Overlook at Infirmary Mound Park

I was so inspired by the painting class on Cape Cod, I wanted to keep that momentum going and to practice what I had learned. This painting was done the weekend after our return home. I tried painting on a canvas board that was toned in a strong cad red wash. It has a great effect against the greens in this landscape.

Thanks for viewing my blog. I hope to get some more recent work posted soon!

Plein air landscapes on Cape Cod

This past week I took a plein air painting class from Amy Wynne-Derry on Cape Cod. It was wonderful! Amy is an excellent teacher (and artist!) and my fellow painters were so supportive of each other and a pleasure to paint with.  Amy led us to some incredibly beautiful spots on the outer cape, near Truro. The last day of class, we got up in time to catch the sunrise on the dunes near Provincetown.

Evolution of a painting...

This is a painting of my kids on the front step of our home in New York. I'm working on maintaining the great contrast of the bright sunlight and the deep shadows. I'm still playing with it.

Plein air at Buckeye Lake

Found a nice, quiet spot in the shade at Buckeye Lake to paint last weekend. Just me and the ducks, geese and a blue heron for the most part.

Daily Paintings 2011

fresh start

I have officially joined Daily Paintworks! This is an effort to hold myself accountable to keep painting and sharing my work with others.

Please feel free to comment on my paintings! I look forward to hearing from you.
